Full / Part Rewires
A rewire is a comprehensive process involving the replacement of all the electrical fixed wiring, socket outlets, switches, light fittings and consumer unit. This can be completed throughout the full property or just in one area where an issue with the wiring has been identified. Some of the key steps involved are:
-Assessment and planning: We will initially assess the existing electrical system, identify the issues, and then map out the rewiring process. This includes discussing all of your specific requirements in the property.
-Power Shutdown: Before starting the rewiring, necessary power will be isolated to ensure the safety of both clients and electricians
-Removal of old wiring: Existing wiring, socket outlets, switches and light fittings are safely removed to make space for new wiring.
-Installation of new wiring: New electrical wiring is installed throughout the property, following current regulations and safety standards. This includes the wiring of new socket outlets, lighting, switches and any additional requirements based on the properties layout and needs.
-Installation of new accessories: All outlets, switches and lighting fixtures are upgraded and all other electrical components installed, including a new consumer unit that complies with modern regulations.
-Inspection and testing: Once the rewiring process is complete, we will conduct a thorough test to ensure the new system will function correctly and safely, before restoring power to the property ready for regular use. We will then issue you an installation certificate for you to keep for future reference.
-Plastering: We also offer a plastering service upon request where we will fill all of the chases made to accommodate the new wiring, so all that will be left to do is sand and paint.
Some reasons for needing a rewire may include:
-Outdated wiring: If your home has outdated wiring, it may not meet current safety standards and could pose a fire hazard. Rewiring ensures the electrical wiring is safe and compliant with modern regulations.
-Safety concerns: Faulty or deteriorating wiring could lead to electric shocks, fires or damage to appliances. A full home rewire addresses all of these concerns, enhancing overall safety.
-Frequent electrical issues: if you experience frequent electrical problems such as tripping at your consumer unit, flickering lights or sockets not working, it may be a sign of underlying wiring issues that necessitate a comprehensive rewiring.
-Property renovation or remodelling: When renovating or remodelling your home or an investment property, it’s an opportune time to consider a full rewiring. This allows you to modernise the electrical infrastructure and accommodate new additions. Rewiring also adds value to the property.
-Peace of mind: Knowing that your home is equipped with a reliable and updated electrical system brings peace of mind, reducing the risk of unexpected electrical issues and ensuring the safety of your family in your home.
A home rewire is a significant undertaking, and is crucial to hire a qualified, experienced and insured electrical company, such as ourselves, to ensure work is conducted safely, tidily and in compliance with safety regulations.
