Electrical Installation Condition Reports
An EICR is a comprehensive inspection and testing process for assessing the safety and condition of the electrical installation in question. There are several reasons for needing an EICR:
-Legal Requirements: Property owners, Landlords, and employers are legally obligated to ensure the electrical safety of their premises. An EICR helps fulfil these legal obligations and demonstrates compliance with electrical safety regulations
-Insurance Requirements: Insurance providers may require an EICR to validate that the electrical installation meets safety standards. Compliance can affect insurance coverage and premiums for property owners.
-Identifying electrical hazards: The inspection carried out during an EICR helps identify potential electrical hazards, such as faulty wiring, outdated installations, or damaged accessories/components. Addressing these issues promptly prevents accidents or fire.
-Periodic inspection: EICR’s are typically conducted at regular intervals, depending on the type of property. For example an EICR must be conducted every 5 years on a rental property. Periodic inspections help identify any deterioration or wear and tear in the electrical system over time.
